In 2007 City of Kristiansand initiated a long term program with the aim of saving energy costs and reducing emissions from heating. Kristiansand invested early in energy monitoring, IT-tools, automation, industrial control systems, ventilation, heatpumps, lights, pumps and more. So far the City of Kristiansand has made substantial savings throughout the last ten years in more than 130 buildings and energy costs have been reduced by more than 34 %.
Kristiansand was the first Municipality in Norway to be certified after ISO5001 standards back in 2016. Committed management and employees and the proper tools have made this possible.
According to Kiwa Technological Institute, Kristiansand is a model for other municipalities and property owners who want to take climate challenge seriously while reducing their energy costs.
