Helsinki joined the cluster of Lighthouse cities as part of the EU Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation programme in the project mySMARTlife which brings forward new and innovative urban energy solutions and numerous pilots within the framework to commercial scale.
The 5-year project spreads across six European countries with a total budget of 23 million euros and 27 partners out of which seven are in Helsinki. Some of the pioneering Helsinki examples in the project include smart heating control for thermal comfort by human thermal model and heat demand response, autonomous (robot bus) pilots as a collaboration with on-going SOHJOA projects and the first solar powered shared public two-way charger for e-cars as well as the shared commercial fast charger in a smart grid.
Actions are divided into four categories: energy efficient buildings, smart mobility, city infrastructures and non-technical actions such as supportive ICT/IoT solutions. Some of the pioneering Helsinki examples in the project include smart heating control and heat demand response of privately owned buildings, autonomous (robot bus) pilots as a collaboration with on-going SOHJOA projects and the first solar powered shared public two-way charger for e-cars in a smart grid.
