Helsinki is the capital of Finland. It is located on the shore of the Gulf of Finland, in the region of Uusimaa in southern Finland. As the most populous city of Finland, it has a population of 658,864.
Helsinki has ambitious targets to be the world’s most functional city and reach carbon neutrality by 2035. Smart solutions help to achieve these goals.
Forum Virium Helsinki is the City of Helsinki's innovation unit. It develops new digital services and urban innovations in cooperation with companies, universities, other public sector organizations and Helsinki residents.
Forum Virium Helsinki brings smart urban services to real context: Jätkäsaari Smart Mobility Lab hosts testing of MaaS and other smart mobility solutions. Soon self-driving robot busses will be in use for citizens in the streets of Kalasatama and Pasila districts. Helsinki has already opened considerable amounts of data, available via Helsinki Region infoshare. Helsinki is the first Nordic city that has created a semantic CityGML 3D model of its entire area. This, and a top quality 3D mesh model of the entire city are published as open data.
